Today we will be looking at 40 examples of website footer designs as seen on education websites from all around the world, mainly universities and colleges.
When visitors get lost on a website, they often skip right to the footer for a last attempt to find what they are looking for. The same is done by visitors that have limited time to accomplish a task, such as finding the address, a telephone number or the refund policy.
So today we are looking at university websites chosen at random, with the purpose of understanding what they think are the most important pieces of information to include in the footer.
Quick stats at a glance:
1. Almost all of these websites have multiple columns of content and navigation in the footer, with 4 columns of navigation menus to be a common design pattern.
2. The majority of websites, 31 out of 40, have a distinctly dark background color in the footer, to better signal the end of the page. Many websites use a dark shade of their brand color, while others rely on dark shades of gray. Total black (HEX #000000) is found on just one website out of these 40.
3. Links to social media accounts are present in the footer of 35 out of 40 of these websites.
4. The logo of the organization is present in the footer of 27 out of 40 websites.
And now without any further ado, let’s get to our inspiration gallery.
Note: these websites were chosen at random and are not sorted in any particular order.
